Recently NBC’s hit sit-com Community, a show about seven
study-group members going through wacky
misadventures, said farewell to the character Troy Barnes, played by Donald
Glover.
Donald
Glover, who also holds an alter- ego as
Childish Gambino, an alternative hip-hop artist, said his goodbyes to the set
of Community. The show, recently entering its 5th season, only saw
Glover’s character on 5 episodes. Many fans of the show speculated that Glover
was leaving the show to work on his recently released Gambino album ‘Because the Internet’, yet after a
series of Instagram posts by Glover, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Glover posted on social media a
series of pictures, in them many notes regarding why he left Community. Glover
writes, “I didn’t leave Community for rap. I wanted to be on my own.” He also
wrote that he was scared. He stated he was scared of different aspects of his
life falling apart, including ties with his friends, family, and girlfriend. He
seems ready to start a new stage of his life, by also stating in the series of
pictures, “You’re always allowed to be better. You’re always allowed to grow
up. If you want.” While these words are very inspiring, many fans are sad to
see such an amusing character leave the show.
