Blog 3

As I perused the world of newspaper program websites, I noticed that all the greats had one simple thing in common: recency. In our fast-paced and ever-changing lives, we now want news quickly and concisely and are less concerned with the flowery delicacy and attention once given to stories. Because of the frequency of their postings and the relevancy of the news they cover, The Boiling Point | www.shalhevetboilingpoint.com, Shalhevet High School, Los Angeles, CA; The Edge | www.pgedgeonline.com, Pleasant Grove High School, Texarkana, TX; and FHNToday.com, Francis Howell High School, St. Charles, MO really stood out to me. The Boiling Point has a clean and easy to use website that would allow any reader to find the news they need. The stories seemed relevant to what is going on in their school and their community, while keeping original angles. FHNToday's layout was more interesting and made me want to look around and scroll through stories. I really liked their use of social media, too. But my favorite was The Edge. First, the layout is hip, clean, and cool, making me want to scroll through a recent basketball game's pictures and participate in their polls. The stories seemed really interesting and relevant to their school. But most of all, they literally posted everyday; they already had up an Oscar's review!

Out of the stories I read, I really liked Uncovering addiction and Under the Knife.
