1. I found the feature piece "Schools consider allowing trained faculty access to guns on campus" to be a very thought-provoking piece as it raises the question of the extent to which the second amendment has helped or harmed our society. Although many aspects have been carefully constructed and examined in the system established by for teachers' carrying of concealed weapons, I don't believe the system will be an effective permanent solution. Much reevaluation needs to be be done regarding the current gun culture.
2. I also found the opinion piece "Replace textbooks with tablets" to be interesting as it relates to our current PowerUp initiative. I agree that tablets can store multiple e-textbooks that may be relatively cheaper than their paper counterparts; however, I do not believe technology is the key solution to improving education. Rather than focusing on technology and mere materialistic improvements, to truly increase the quality of education, more investment in human resources, teacher training, and student empowerment should be made.
